You gasp as you are released from the grasp of the story. Well, that was thing.
You aren’t entirely sure what to make of what you’ve just experienced. Of course, simulation entertainment is not rare, but you don’t consume much media that way, if you’re being honest. Quite disorienting. And you’ve never heard of scrolls being used as an entrypoint. Are they designed to look more archaic than they are? Something of an odd design choice.
You look around, taking your bearings, rolling up the scroll to put it back. Nothing has changed. No one has come into the room. As you return the scroll, do you pick up another?
- One has a light feather and some discolouration
- One is on red parchment
- One is labelled “Zephyria”
- One appears to have been pecked up quite badly
- One is labeled “The Floating City”
- One is covered in dirt
- One is labeled “Spycraft”
- One isn’t a scroll at all — it appears to be some sort of electronic tablet
You pick it up and take it back to the table, before slowly unrolling the aged parchment.
When you’re finally done perusing the scrolls, you’re still not sure how much time has passed. You hear a knock on the door – there must be cameras, so they could see you packing up. A different Historian from the one who led you in opens the door.
“Come with me,” they say. You don’t entirely want to know what happens if you don’t follow.
