The perfect scenario

The family treated me rather well considering I am supposed to be a slave to be used as a tool or a machine. The Elderly woman treated me to the same food they were enjoying every meal and provided me with an attic fitted with a bed, a table, and all the necessary components that are normally provided only to guests. Many of these things were even better than what my house had back in the underground. The hospitality they provided me was much worth the work I was doing. Cleaning dishes, sweeping, mopping, and laundry. Most of these were regular chores I have done all my life. They Genuinely cared for me and offered me support whenever I needed it. Because of this, I quickly warmed up with the family and sometimes even felt that I wanted to stay with them, despite my title as a slave, but my hatred for the people up here, and their bloated egos kept me on track, I wan to kill the controller, I want him dead for creating this inequality, for mistreating everyone back at home, for what he has done to my friends and those who never came back home.

“Dear! Would you come down for a minute?” The elder woman said in a voice that was almost light enough that I couldn’t hear through the door.

“Yes ma’am, coming!” I said as I broke myself out of thought and stumbled my way down the stairs.

“Do you need help with anything, ma’am?” I quickly asked as I walked towards the kitchen table where the voice was coming from.

“Oh no dear, just the opposite. There is a ball tomorrow attended by some prestigious families at Lord Fartimore’s House, and because of some connections, we were invited as well. Would you like to be a part of it?” She asked in a gentle voice.

“Why of course, but just one question, who is Lord Fartimore?” I asked out of curiosity.

“Oh dear, he is the controller, the one who keeps the peace between up here and the underground.” The elderly said in an almost surprised tone as if I was supposed to know this information.

My heart began pounding, and adrenaline-filled me as I thought, how can this be, the perfect chance came right to me. I almost didn’t realize that I started smiling, and quickly returned to my normal gesture. “Yes ma’am, I would love to accompany you and the family to this gathering, it would be my pleasure.”

“Thank you, dear, you may go back up now.” She finished quietly.

“Thank you,” I exclaimed as I shuffled away, and walked upstairs with a smirk on my face.
