Freedom

Eventually someone does come: and it turns out to be the Zephyran you had abandoned disguised as a guard. He stares at you a moment, his ire fading into pity. He has come here seeking The Cube knowing it was in your hands before it made it to this place.

It was there. You remember it’s pristine form against the black machinery, opening itself to reveal the horrors that awaited within.

It was what transformed you: changed you into the hideous thing that you are now.

Jonathan releases you, and you use your monstrous form to easily dispatch your tormentors, clearing the way for you and Jonathan to find the laboratory.

You weren’t the only one who was changed like this. You see logs: hundreds, maybe thousands of them – of others. They were all changed just like you were, though not all were so lucky to have kept their minds intact. In fact, many of them were simply thrown to the wastes. They became what those living in the Underdark would come to know as “Monsters”.

Your weary mind cannot even begin to comprehend the level of atrocity that was committed here.

Knowing what the both of you know now, Jonathan resigns himself, begging you take the other prisoners and leave.

If you’ve lost your way in the IFStravaganza, you can always go back to the beginning.
