The idea of Pigeon Verse came from the need to create not just an interactive story, but a universe for pigeons secretly operating among us. I wanted to keep states from past interactions but I wasn’t able to get it working properly so I skipped that vision. But my part of the storyline was to establish a connection to the protagonist’s past with a mix of human actions and pigeon actions. The protagonist is set up in a way that allows the player to go for a human connection fully becoming a human or a pigeon version hungry for revenge. I tried to connect our stories such that the player could traverse into other versions of the stories written by my teammates, for example some pathways can diverge into their storyline. It may seem like lazy writing but there’s no one similar to Dr. Jive in this version of the Earth. (Umar and Daniel)
The first pathway was designed directly from Frank’s story, creating a starting point for the other pathways from my teammates. I wasn’t able to fully implement the story I envisioned but the important events I was able to add. The story begins in a sunflower field with his memories wiped as he traverses through the area to find a way out of the wilderness and in order to do so, some of the decisions created a different life for him to explore, whether those decisions are to become a human or trying to reconnect with his lost pigeon self.
If I had a little bit more time, I would’ve collaborated and communicated better with my team members to interconnect our stories more feasibly and create unique interactions to help users to engage with our storylines much more effectively. We did most of the collaborations in class and wish we could’ve done a lot more.
