Early sketches for Unravelled

A very early conceptual sketch of Unravelled

Prior to fully understanding how big of an impact COVID would had, I envisioned Unravelled as a physical yarn maze, where the yarn constituted interacting stories visitors could trace and modify. I’d still like to test this as a way to bring the online interaction into the physical world, but in the intervening time I’ve pivoted to an experience that can be had completely online, even if there are some optional physical elements.

A sketch of intersecting, entangled stories

When pivoting to online, this was a way for me to visualize interacting stories and characters.

An early sketch of an online version of Unravelled.

This sketch is a conceptualization of Unravelled as a locative game where your movement around the city is how you interact with the game. I’ve moved away from this so that people could participate from anywhere.

If you’ve lost your way in the IFStravaganza, you can always go back to the beginning.
