This next Historian is chattier than the one who greeted you at the door. You’re not even sure how to process what they’re saying – it seems like it’s mostly about the weather. You make hopefully-encouraging noises to hold up your end of the conversation.
They bring you into what appears to be a tea room. Or some sort of office. There’s a table with fairly cushy chairs, and several Historians arranged around the table. They don’t look happy, but at least they don’t look disdainful either. The one who leads you in to the room addresses you.
“Thank you for coming to visit our library today. We were actually quite excited when we got your request – we reviewed your work and we thought it was time to get an external perspective on our records. After your investigation, we wanted to ask – which of the experiences you reviewed rang most true?”
You spend a few seconds gaping at the Historian. “You’ve been following my work? And you … want my opinion … on the records I saw?”
“Well we took a look after you asked to come in, anyway. And we were quite impressed, given you come from the undercity. You understand.” the Historian gives you a saccharine smile.
“Uh … huh … well … all right …” You’re not sure they’ll appreciate your choice. But if there’s any opportunity to set the Upper City Historians right or get them on the back foot – it seems worth taking.
So, which of the records do you think “rings most true”?
