Mary is too injured to fly so you muster the strength to fly her to a safe hiding spot to rest and regain her energy. The two of you take flight as conspicuously as possible, looking behind to make sure you weren’t followed until you finally reach your home.
Several hours pass before Mary is stable enough to explain everything to you. She explains how Zephyria came to be and the price that was paid. It seems that everything that you and your people were told was a fictitious story made up by the most powerful elite in the world. Underdark, the ground city below, is made up of humans who were sacrificed and deemed despensible enough to be tortured and tested in order to develop the genome sequencing required to allow people to grow wings and fly. They’re monsters only because they were made that way. Now, the city below exists just to be used as a power supply and for harvesting whenever Zephyrians saw fit. Mary is distraught and explains that she was also tricked and how she told her superiors that she could no longer be complicit to subjugating the poor lower class to this cruel experimentation.
You sit there processing how every truth you knew was just a lie.
Mary slowly brings forward a small white cube in the palm of her hand. Mary tells you that the information stored in there is the scientific breakthrough that made the experiments a success. She had discovered a pre-Zephyrian codex that contained the genetic information needed to give rise to the exact mutations for wings.
What do you do?
Destroy the white cube. This is the final puzzle piece and it needs to be destroyed before the wrong people find out it’s missing.
Or
Demand the truth. The government’s deceit and secrecy has gone on long enough and they must answer for their actions. There’s blood on the hands of every Zephyrian and they don’t even know it.
