You try to shake what you just saw, that was an unexpected turn of events. In better news, your food looks delicious! You’re eager to get back to your regularly scheduled programming – all of this ruckus has stirred up an even larger appetite.
As you’re licking up the last few crumbs off your plate you pause for a moment… There’s a tightness in your chest that hasn’t gone away. Is this just heartburn or is it a physical manifestation of guilt for being a complicit bystander to that disturbing scene.
What do you do?
Listen to your conscience. You admit to yourself that you should have done something at that moment. That person needs your help, and you’re going to go look for some answers.
Or
Ignore your conscience. You tell yourself that you’ll go straight to the pharmacy for some Pepcid after this – that should fix that pesky heartburn. In the meantime, there’s a dessert menu calling your name!
