Jonathan

And there it is: the truth of Jonathan’s past.
The two of you read it over side by side. You aren’t sure how to react, and it takes you both several double-takes to truly process this information.
Jonathan had once been a scavenger much like you were before his ascension. Back then, he was known as Mary Scavenger. He had found The Cube and with it discovered methods transformation beyond what The Zephyrans could ever hope to achieve – apparently they’d been trying to replicate something similar only to end in failure after failure: and those failures would often find themselves imprisoned here, until here could no longer fit them. Nearly all of them having had lost their minds completely by the end of it.
Many were simply dumped into the wastes – though once Jonathan had disclosed his discovery with the Zephyrans, he was one of the first to be subjected to its experimentation – and the only to have ever survived the “ascension” in the first place – even correcting the defects of his birth with ease.
Instead of using this discovery to uplift us however, the Zephyrans sought to use this codex and it’s ancient knowledge to further their ludicrous experiments in their search to find further means of ascension.

Jonathan himself was given employ at this despicable place until he could no longer stomach the atrocities he was made to commit. He stole the cube and used it one last time to erase his memories before throwing himself to the wastes.

You turn to Jonathan one last time, his face once again stark white.

Condemn Jonathan for his involvement in these atrocities. He fled for a reason and it was out of guilt for his crimes.

Forgive Jonathan for his past involvement in these atrocities. He fled for a reason and it was to repent.

If you’ve lost your way in the IFStravaganza, you can always go back to the beginning.
