Initial Ideas for my own IF

I decided I want to create a story, possibly a comedy, that involves a family that has accidental swaps with their own selves in a parallel universe.

I also want to introduce a family drama into the mix, likely caused by the confusion of swapping universes.

I believe the building blocks of my story will be arranged in a petal form, and the player will be at home with their family. The story will progress as the player moves from room to room and interacting with the family.

If you’ve lost your way in the IFStravaganza, you can always go back to the beginning.

I think making a comedy story is really interesting. And i think adding in the family element is going to get the player more involved and maybe relate. Very cool idea and good luck.

When I was learning to program I made a text based game about my extended family poking fun at their personalities and habits as you went around helped them with different chores. I showed it to my family and they liked it, until they realized that EVERYONE in my family was in the game as a character, so the person you were playing was a stranger, and they all got kind of creeped out. For your own project are you going to model the dimension-travelling family based off of people that you know? It seems sort of cheap and tropey, but I think taking real individuals with strong personalities and using them as character models is really fun and rewarding.
