A Idea about interactive story

For making a compelling interactive story, I think adding some music to each slides is inevitable. Think about how you feel when watching a movie, especially horror movies, imaging a man walked into a cabinet without light and suddenly he felt something behind him. In this case, if movie director could add an appropriate background music into this section, then it could make viewers feel like they were in the same situation as this man so background music could make a movie compelling.

In the same case, I am wondering if I could insert some proper music into my interactive story then probably it could make players have a better experience while playing my game. In my opinion, background music is a soul to any blockbusters like star wars and also some known games such as call of duty. If there was no background music in these movies and games then viewers and players experience could be compromised by at least a half.

As a result of this, I determine to add background music into my interactive story even though I don’t think I am talented about music but I will give it my best shot.

If you’ve lost your way in the IFStravaganza, you can always go back to the beginning.

I was thinking music/sound would be great for immersion. I think it’s possible in twine? Unsure about the other makers though. This tutorial is old but I’m assuming the same concept is possible.

I agree, music would definitely enhance the experience and set the mood for your interactive fiction! I was also considering adding music for my story but as someone who isn’t the most “tech savvy” I’m not sure how I will make it work. If you’re looking for an easier way to integrate the music, maybe doing the game through powerpoint slides and integrating the music through each slide would work?

For my own project the sound is something that I am afraid of tackling. The engine I’m using has not been kind to me in the past when it comes to implementing sounds and music. Finding a good volume balance is tricky and as someone who struggles with auditory overstimulation I find it can be hard to read if the music or other sounds are distracting. Good luck tackling the music in your project!
