IFstravaganza Ideas, References, and Thought Process

For my portion of the ifstravaganza, because we were leaning heavily into more of the sci-fi Frankenstein I wanted to reference it directly. Naming my Scientist Mary S. was for sure the only subtle way I could think of.

For my endings, the character could fight the oppressive upper class in many ways, however, I didn’t want any of them to turn out poorly as I was worried it’d come across like “striking doesn’t work” or some weird “passive approaches only” preaching. I think having the player die but revolution still win was an okay medium? Therefore the only real way to get a bad ending for my branches is to give up or be defeated alone to drive home the point of power in the community.

Although more indirectly, I thought a lot about Disco Elysium and how decisions affected the player. Based on your choices and skills you level up, the narration changes. I feel like I could better incorporate this in future projects, as tone shifts being consistent with multiple people working on a project is next to impossible and can just be confusing to the player.

If you’ve lost your way in the IFStravaganza, you can always go back to the beginning.
