The Lost

I’ve spent a lot of time today thinking about what I want to do with my NPC characters “The Lost”. At first it made sense that they might resemble a mix of esoteric shapes and figures because of the whole “mindscape” aspect of The Blanc. I thought they might be cute but I wasn’t sure. Instead I think I’ve decided to go with more humanoid characters.

Another aspect I was thinking about was how to scale down my ideas so that they might fit within the scope of the project: Using ‘humanoid’ characters, using as few original assets as possible, etc.
There’s also the scope of how I want to create areas or ‘levels’ that work within the narrative of my story. These may be problems for later, as I continue to nail down concepts as much as possible.

If you’ve lost your way in the IFStravaganza, you can always go back to the beginning.

Scope creep is so hard to contain! I already will probably end up working on my project even after the semester is over just as a hobby. It’s so hard to reign in all the creativity once the juices start flowing. It’s a snowball effect for sure, because I also strongly believe that constraints can lead to some really interesting creativity, so having a tight deadline can squeeze a lot of creative juice out of a person like putting an orange in a hydraulic press. Good luck fighting the scope creep!
