Dev Log #7

Hello everybody! I was actually suppose to post a dev log yesterday and then completely forgot- So I’m doing it now 🙂

This one won’t be too long, just a quick update on the story and how it’s been. After a long week, Act I, Act II are finally done. At the time of writing this, Act III is being developed and so is the backtracking story.

The backtracking is mainly important as it wraps together the entire game, almost like the cherry on top.

Again, I’m trying to finish up the writing before Monday- so I can finally get to the fun part (I think?). CODING! Or well, something that is different from a google doc with only words.

I’m excited to write some dev logs about that but for now, the story is almost done (finally, after so long-)

See everybody in the next one 😀

If you’ve lost your way in the IFStravaganza, you can always go back to the beginning.

I haven’t read your other logs completely, partly because your project seems really intricate and I want to see it revealed in class when you present. A full 3 act story seems awesome! How are you managing scope creep? It seems like a few of us are struggling with that. Looking forward to the next log when you start coding!

Hello, thank you for your kind comment! I’m hoping I don’t mess up on my presentation haha, I look forward to presenting it to you and everybody.

Actually- I also had to change a few ideas, or cutdown on some original brainstorming I did. However, that didn’t stop me from making the story still interesting and immersive. Think of it as another challenge to the previous ones, but also that “Hey, your original ideas sometimes don’t make it in because of constraints”, which is why you shouldn’t hold onto them so strongly. I think it’s more about trying to add enough to add to the actual story, but not adding in unnecessary filler. Think of it as everything you decide on implementing or writing for the player is important, and that it has meaning. However, that shouldn’t stop you from having fun with it (I know I sure did, but reasonably of course). I’m not sure if that really answered your question, but let me know otherwise 🙂
