A couple ideas I’ve had for the game are having a log to track the player’s choices and making a couple of the side characters a little bit more important for the less extreme endings.
Creating a log however would just be a nice quality of life feature, and isn’t strictly necessary. I have no idea how I would implement in Twine, or if it is even possible, so it is something I will only consider if I have time. There are quite a few choices so it would be nice for the player to have something like a log to keep track of everything, especially since choices determine what ending they receive. Although the game shouldn’t take them very long to complete so it’s not like I’m asking the player to remember every choice they made over a 10 hour experience.
So far the characters Daryll and Jamie represent the endings of staying and leaving respectively. However, they are more extreme in the ideologies and while they may listen to differing viewpoints, they are quite set on their own opinions. So I may employ some of the other side characters to represent the less extreme endings. However, this would require fleshing out those characters, which may become too overwhelming to the player. The player would not only have to keep track of the ideologies of Daryll and Jamie, but also their own choices, in addition to the perspectives of two more characters. So it is something I may test to see if it works out, but it is not an idea that is set in stone.
