Dev Log #8

Hi everybody- it’s me- danish. After approximately 92 A4 pages of story (I say approximately because I haven’t written the back tracking yet, so it’ll probably increase-) it is done. I’m FINALLY out of writers block! However.. I’m now stuck in a coding hole.

But we must continue. So far, Twine has been pretty easy to use, though it was a little confusing at first (kinda still is but I’m getting the hang of it).

I was mainly confused as I’m using the desktop app- but some of the tutorials are like “well if you press this button-“ and I’m here like “WHERE IS THE BUTTON?!”. Also some of the tutorials AREN’T in Harlowe so I needed to work around that as well.

There is definitely a learning curve, and I’m still learning how to do things while I work through my introduction and part of Act I (but mainly the intro at the time writing this).

Still, it’s been a nice break from writing just pure text on a google doc- but I’ll have to go back to actually finish the story.

Oh right, I don’t think I ever explained why I typed everything on a google doc. Its mainly to keep everything organized on one spot, and well, to let autocorrect make sure I’m spelling things correctly. Just a nice quality of life thing after I’ve written something. The least I could do was make sure my grammar made sense. phew

However, through the last few stems of my creative writing (there’s still some don’t worry), I looked back on the proposal feedback. At the tome- I really didn’t know what I was going to do- so I just wrote down some basic thoughts. However, now that I’m write deep into the project, I have already worked and planned out how all the elements are going to work together (and not just a bunch of separate pieces)

Here are some cool screenshots I’ve taken from the actual game itself!

The real code (and probably a more in-depth explaination) will be uploaded in a new dev log tomorrow B)

See everybody in the next one!

If you’ve lost your way in the IFStravaganza, you can always go back to the beginning.
