Adjusting my Script

After receiving some constructive feedback from my presentation, I did make some adjustments to my game. I could branch out a little more without complicating the process too much! Overall, I am thrilled with how I have changed it. The script of the “intoxicated” plotline now better follows the point of view of a drunk person, as their thoughts and actions are less clear and coordinated. I think this change added a lot more realism to the story as the player loses the ability to make conscious decisions the more they drink.

Not only have I added a subplot, but I have also found more spaces to incorporate music and sound effects to support the unsettling ambiance I was aiming to create! I spent a good portion of the day seeking out and recording the sound effects I wanted to incorporate and I still have a few more to find but I am not too worried about it. Honestly, adding music onto passages on Twine was a struggle, but luckily, I have figured that out as well.

This is what my current (and most likely final) Twine mindmap looks like:

I also added an epilogue at the end of my game to clear up any confusion on what the purpose of the game may have been, as well as provide some clarity as to how severe of an issue impaired driving really is.

If you’ve lost your way in the IFStravaganza, you can always go back to the beginning.

I remember your presentation and how we talked about adding the realism aspect of drinking and driving into the story, but adding that in through twine as an interactive story mindmap style aspect must have been hard! It is really cool to see how your story came together, and the changes you made throughout! If I have time I’ll definitely give it a playthrough!
