Character Models!

I found a downloadable asset pack created by Sutemo on Itch.io made for visual novels. There were male and female versions to which I manipulated in Krita to make my characters 🙂

Creating and editing models is more in my scope of what I can do compared to coding, so I found that this part was really fun to play around with!

Nico the Magician

The asset file included many expressions, hair styles, and outfits to mix-and-match. I only used the asset files to create Nico.

Faye the Wolf-Person

For Faye, I added ears and redesigned the mouth a bit so she looks more like a “wolf woman” haha. Oh, I also had to cover up the human ears that were on the original model with pink so it looks like it’s just hair in that area. I think I did a good job filling it in!

The sprites were very catered towards slice-of-life and more modern visual novels, so not all the outfits were very suitable for my fantasy storyline. This bikini top that came with the asset file and was about the only thing that would fit in a fantasy world. It looks a bit scandalous, but, coincidentally, I think it suits her character pretty well.

Altair the Orc

Now for Altair, I think I had to do the most work on him. I had to change his skin colour to something that would resemble the skin colour of an orc. I had to manually recolour some of the shading as well, because the paint bucket tool didn’t fill in all the colours :(. Then I had to change the proportions of his head to body ratio to make him look more buff. I’m not sure if it did anything because he looks a bit wonky to me. That’s okay though, hopefully he’ll look better when I add him into my story.

If you’ve lost your way in the IFStravaganza, you can always go back to the beginning.

I absolutely love how your characters turned out! Especially the wolf woman and Altair, the wolf womans ears were covered up totally, if you didn’t write about how you had to cover it up I would not have known! As for the Orc, the shading you did around the neck area is gorgeous! Gonna play your game and enjoy the characters to the fullest!
