Covenant (TL9)

Mormons understand covenants to be sacred promises and (or) agreements that they make with their Heavenly Father. In their eyes, God sets specific conditions, and promises them with blessings as long as they obey them. Conversely, when members of the church do not adhere to those criteria, the promise is void. They cannot receive blessings, and in some instances suffer a penalty as a consequence of disobedience. Some of the ceremonies that include a covenant are; baptisms, endowments, temple sealings, ect. It is viewed extremely poorly to ‘break’ any of these covenants within the context of Mormonism. As a consequence, those individuals are frowned upon.
