Brenda is originally from California, and received a degree in Journalism. She is well educated, confident, strong minded, and has a determined character. Brenda isn’t swept up into the Lafferty family ideas or fundamentalist beliefs. She isn’t afraid to voice her opinion against the stronger male characters.
Compared to other Lafferty family members, Allen, being the youngest, is the least influenced by the older brother’s endeavors and opinions. He fell in love with Brenda, attracted by her ambition and confidence. While his family sees those characteristics as problematic, he admires / encourages them in his partner. Allen is open minded and loves Brenda for who she is.
Brenda often extended that support to her fellow sister in-laws. She was involved in their endeavors, and fought with them till the very end. Finally, she took on the role of motherhood graciously. Even though her daughter was only 15 months old, she tried to instill those qualities of strength within her. It is really a shame that those people with so much life to live, had it senselessly taken from them.
