IFstravaganza Reflection

For the IFStravaganza project, I collaborated and participated in class to generate ideas of a Cinderella assassin storyline for the first class. Although I was unable to attend class on July 4th due to a family emergency, I was still able to message and reach out to the group members that began working on the Cinderella story. As a group we were able to effectively rearrange the frames and I was given five scenes to work on:

  • Title for 5A: Escaping through the vent

When writing out the scenes, one thing that I found challenging was creating a scene that would flow with the rest of the scenes that my group members wrote, given that we weren’t able to read each other’s work yet. I had to make sure that the writing would make sense and had to reach out to my group members to make sure that certain characteristics and elements within the scene flowed with the rest of the storyline. For instance, for my escape through the vent and window scenes, I wrote that Cinderella had a knife and let my group members know to be mindful of this while writing their scenes. We also collectively agreed that the setting was set in the olden day where there was no technology or cars prevalent. We all agreed to complete our parts by the end of the day on Thursday and put them up on the blog including links that connected them. I am happy to say that I really like how it all turned out. I think we all did a great job at effectively communicating with one another through our discord group chats and creating an interesting and captivating storyline. I believe this experience will be very beneficial and helpful for my future projects in the class because it gives me a wide range of ideas in terms of the layout, structure and storyline. I personally liked branching out the frames and sections because it made the story coherent and easier to link, and that is something I think I will use for future assignments. In addition, planning out the story in Miro first was very beneficial because we were all able to visualise the story and how it connected and came together. I think I would also like to take this approach in future assignments.
