One of the ideas I came up with for my interactive story was to create a game where the player was able to time travel into the future or into the past. Both choices would lead the player into a world where they had to figure their way back into the present. The game would resemble a Quest where they had to solve issues and return to the present with valuable information and considerations.
The idea/script may be as follows:
The year is 2020. You wake up startled and sweating frantically, your room looks different. There are two doors, a door to travel into the future, or the past. Which do you choose?
Option 1: Going __years into the future – The goal is to find your way back to the present without getting destroyed by robots and take back one useful item with you to the present time.
The year is ____. End up in your favorite store/shop with an unusual looking “phone” – find a familiar face – robots run the world- you are not “detected” in the system and anyone “undetected” must be destroyed. You need to hide from the robots and find your way home.
Option 2: Going ___years into the past – Goal is to find your way back to the present and inform people of what to expect in the future? (allows player to become embedded in the environment and year they were sent to)
The structure of this story would branch out into two different sections. At the end of each section it would take the player back to the start where they have the chance to select the other option.
