Recording Sound Effects

Yesterday night’s wind storm really helped me collect some of the effects I was looking to use in my game. I just wanted to share some of the ones I have collected here!

Door Opening
Car Starting
Wind Blowing

I have a lot more to collect but this is what I have for now! I hope these are able to add to the eerie ambiance I am looking to convey through my game.

If you’ve lost your way in the IFStravaganza, you can always go back to the beginning.

Whoa, these sound effects are great! I especially liked the opening door one. The squeaky-ness really makes it sound creepy! I have some ideas for more eerie sounds you could record; dripping water. I don’t know if that would even have any relevance to your story, but the sound of a quiet space where all you can hear is water when there shouldn’t be any water is really great. Also, I’m not sure if you have one of those wooden blinds, but the sound they make when I lower them fast is a little scary. Also, footsteps! That are really loud and gradually speed up. Especially if its nighttime. I think that any sounds that are really quick are good, because it raises your heart rate just by listening to it. Like someone knocking on your front door really fast. One that definitely scares me a lot is the buzzing of a bug, that I cannot find!! Utterly terrible. Especially if its right by your ear! I think I’m just talking about my fears now, haha. But I hope those ideas give you some inspiration!
