I’d like to share tools I used for interactive storytelling. At the first beginning, I used a tool called Miro for the mind map of the interactive storytelling. We have ever used it for many times on class so you will not be unfamiliar with it. In my own opinion, it is a good one to use to make story mind map, it is easy to use and we can make branches by just a click and we can change the shape of text frame. Also, the thread that connects each text frame can be adjusted automatically. I’d like to say it is really friendly for uses to use for these reasons. By making a mind map could help creators to make a story easily and make more sense as the whole story they would like to make would be well-organized , coherent and cohesive. Creators would not need to worry about the story plot and process while making it.
After making the mind map, I used Powerpoint to make the official storytelling. The reason I used Powerpoint is that I am super familiar with Powerpoint and I know how does it work since I have learned that when I was in junior high school. Actually not just the Powerpoint, but also all common tools developed by Microsoft. I didn’t choose any other tools for interactive storytelling on websites since it is a little bit complicated for me, I need to sign up and login for using these tools and sometimes I need to make some codes for story, which makes the process so complicated. The most important thing is that is on a website, I am afraid that someday if there is some errors on the website then I could lose all the data so I have to make the interactive storytelling again, which could be really annoying. But for the traditional tool like the Powerpoint, all the data is stored in my laptop, the only two ways I think I could lose these data is I don’t store data on my laptop (I don’t think I could be so dumb) or my laptop goes off. So I don’t think I will lose data easily. And it is simple to insert background music into each slide, just a few clicks then we can make it. These are the reasons I choose these tools for my interactive storytelling.
