High School’s Not So Different

As you walked over and crept slowly behind her, you suddenly shout, “HEY BRANCHLESS TREE”. She suddenly winced and froze in place as if time had stopped for her. This was the name you called her every day in Jr. High ever since she transferred to your school. Most importantly, not only did she stop, but a quarter of the cafeteria stopped eating and glanced in your direction. This was your time to show off.

You stepped in closer to her, but continued to talk in a volume that everyone could hear clearly. “I didn’t know you came to this school too, I am soooo excited to see you here, you have no idea!” You said in a sarcastic tone. But she continued her silence, with her head down. “What’s up? Too scared to talk with me? Or is that honk of metal weighing down on your vocal cords?” You said as you laughed and grabbed at Sakura’s arm. To your surprise, no one else was laughing at your jokes, out of frustration, you started pulling and rocking Sakura’s arm harder and harder and she began to wince at the pain.

“HEY! A voice suddenly echoed through the cafeteria. As three people came through, the people in their way parted so fast as if Jesus parting the red sea. All three people had tattoos on their neck, and over their arms, and were dressed in a similar fashion, baggy long pants, a white t-shirt, and the school uniform flung over their shoulders.

“Who are you, and what’s with that long hair?” The middle student smirked as he stopped a few inches in front of you. All of a sudden, the whole crowd seemed to be mimicking this man, smirking with him while he looked at you. You finally realized what was happening…
