Throughout the process of creating my interactive story I faced a lot of challenges. For one, I’m not the most tech-savvy person, so figuring a software that made sense in my brain was difficult. Luckily, Twine was really straightforward. But I did find some aspects limiting like not knowing how to include audio or visuals etc.
Another challenge I faced was realizing how text-heavy my story was and how there really isn’t as much interactivity as I would have hoped. Because I spent much of my time on the actual story-line, I realized the story takes on a linear-approach where the outcomes are inevitable. That being said, I made sure to at least include as much interactivity as possible where the player can go back in time through flashbacks and chose how they want to “survive”.
Looking back, there is definitely a few things I would change and readjust in my story to make it more engaging for the player. However, given the time I had and the fact that it was my first ever interactive story, I have to say I’m pretty happy with how it turned out!
