I thought it was important to dive a little deeper into the theme and meaning behind my interactive story.
After playing it, the player will realize through Maria’s past that she has lived her life mainly through decisions or expectations of others. Maria is always conflicted between pleasing her parents and making decisions on her own. In her past she has always just followed her parents wishes. After the plane crash, Maria begins to realize that life is too short to live that way. The focus of my story is perseverance and the idea that we never know how long we will live. So one should make choices that make them happy rather than living for others. That of course is easier said than done, and that’s why there are interactive elements near the end of the story that gives the player the choice of giving up or continuing to fight for survival.
